About this event

The Thai Hua Museum's second Por Tor ceremony day - the seventh ceremony in the municipality's six-places-seven-times programme.

The Por Tor Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, is an important tradition among Phuket residents of Chinese descent, held to dedicate merit to ancestors and wandering spirits. The highlight is the making of red tortoise cakes (Ang Ku), which symbolize longevity, along with the arrangement of various offerings. This festival takes place during the 7th month of the Chinese lunar calendar (around August–September), reflecting long-held filial piety and the continuation of cultural heritage.
