About this event
Street celebration of the Ao Ke community on Takua Pa Road, closing the ceremony cycle of the Por Tor Festival.
Por Tor Festival (Hungry Ghost Festival), also known as Chinese All Souls' Day, is an important tradition of Phuket's Chinese-descended community, held to make merit and dedicate the resulting blessings to ancestors and wandering spirits. The highlight is the making of red tortoise-shaped cakes (Ang Ku), a symbol of longevity, along with the arrangement of various offerings. The festival takes place during the 7th month of the Chinese lunar calendar (around August–September) and reflects both filial piety and the long-standing continuation of the tradition.
